  1. 2019: Gábor Szabó, the party director of Jobbik, sends an email to his party employees, the May organization asks them to report László Toroczkai’s Facebook posts. The email evidence to prove this is available. According to the information, an organized political action preceded the banning of Meta and the declaration of László Toroczkai as a “dangerous person”. The only concrete evidence available is the email, which was handed over by a former Jobbik employee.
  2. May 2019: Meta deletes László Toroczkai’s Facebook page, which at that time had 207 thousand followers.
  3. October 2019: Meta also deletes László Toroczkai’s Instagram page without any prior notice or explanation.

January 21, 2020: Meta sends a message to László Toroczkai stating that there was a mistake and then restores his Instagram page.

January 24, 2020: Just three days later, Meta permanently deletes László Toroczkai’s Instagram page, which previously contained no political content, without any explanation.

June 10, 2020: László Toroczkai files a lawsuit against Meta and submits it to the Szeged Court.

October 12, 2021: In the United States, the investigative media outlet The Intercept publishes Meta’s secret blacklist of “dangerous individuals and organizations” that it has compiled in an opaque and vague manner. László Toroczkai’s name is included on the list, among the names of numerous mass murderers, war criminals, terrorists, and terrorist organizations.

Interestingly, the organization behind László Toroczkai's name is not Mi Hazánk Mozgalom, of which he has been the president since 2018, but Hatvannégy Vármegye Ifjúsági Mozgalom. The name of the organization is in Serbian, so it is likely that previous articles in Serbian that contained false statements and slander were taken into account. László Toroczkai has not officially been the president of HVIM since 2006, and he has not been an active member in any way since 2013.

May 17, 2023: In its second-instance judgment, the Szeged Court of Appeals orders Meta to restore László Toroczkai's Instagram page within 15 days. However, it does not order the reinstatement of the Facebook page, because it “otherwise upholds the first-instance judgment”, which dismissed the claim in its entirety.

July 18, 2023: Meta sends a written response through Oppenheim Law Firm to the question posed by László Toroczkai’s legal representatives as to why it did not enforce the final judgment. Meta first argues that the exact link to the Instagram profile was not included in the claim. After László Toroczkai’s representatives provided this in their response letter, Meta states that it has not been able to legally identify the profile, and therefore cannot reinstate László Toroczkai’s page.

February 17, 2024: The European Union’s Digital Services Regulation, the DSA, enters into force.

August 5, 2024: László Toroczkai’s legal representatives, through an American law firm, signed by William E. Green Jr., contact Meta’s American, European, and Irish executives in letters in order to resolve the legal dispute.

The letters describe in detail the background to the case, the intervention of Jobbik as a party, and the final judgment ordering the reinstatement of the Instagram page, which Meta has not implemented.

László Toroczkai’s legal representatives offer Meta a settlement. According to the offer, László Toroczkai requests the reinstatement of his previous Instagram and Facebook pages, only the removal of his name from the dangerous objects. This would allow him to create completely new pages on Facebook and Instagram and participate in the use of the platforms without restrictions, similar to other users. If this is fulfilled, László Toroczkai would withdraw from the enforcement proceedings in Ireland.

The letter will be sent to Meta Ireland’s legal counsel and data protection officer via email and FedEx. A copy will also be sent to Meta Platforms, Inc. via its registered agent in Delaware, by personal delivery. The letter will also be sent to all members of Meta’s central, US-based board of directors via the corporate secretary and FedEx. The request will also be sent to Oppenheim Law Firm in Budapest, representing Meta.

August 30, 2024: István Gass, representing Oppenheim Law Firm, responds to László Toroczkai, US attorney. In his letter, he confirms that “our client, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, received the settlement offer on August 16, 2024.”

September 18, 2024: Meta Ireland’s response arrives via Oppenheim Law Firm. Meta Ireland rejects application to remove László Toroczkai from the “dangerous person” category.

In its response, Meta refers to various rulings in the Hungarian proceedings. Most importantly, it considers that the courts have recognized Meta’s contractual rights to enforce its terms and conditions regarding “hate speech.” According to Meta, this is the reason why the court did not order it to reinstate László Toroczkai’s Facebook account.

The response also notes that László Toroczkai was ordered to pay Meta’s legal costs in the judgment, and that it reserves the right to enforce these costs.

László Toroczkai will not pay Meta’s legal costs, as Meta has also failed to enforce the judgment, i.e., has not reinstated his Instagram page.

November 30, 2024: László Toroczkai will create a new Facebook page with the aim of being able to take action under the DSA regulation if Meta blocks him again.

The registration is successful, although at this point, if someone enters László Toroczkai's name in the Facebook or Instagram search engine, they will receive an automatic message classifying László Toroczkai as a "dangerous person".

The media reports the news widely, including with headlines such as "Meta allowed Toroczkai back on Facebook after 5 years".

December 9, 2024: After eight days, Meta deletes László Toroczkai's Facebook page again. It does not provide any specific reasons, but only sends a message referring to the "dangerous person" designation.

December 30, 2024: László Toroczkai addresses the Online Platform Dispute Resolution Council established on the basis of the DSA and requests a decision on the matter.

March 31, 2025: The OPVT informs László Toroczkai by e-mail that his cooperation with Meta is hampered. Meta refuses to accept letters from the Council electronically, and has not stated whether it accepts the OPVT’s decision as binding on itself.

The Council can therefore only make a recommendation. According to the OPVT, it sees Meta’s participation in the dispute settlement procedure as doubtful, and therefore draws László Toroczkai’s attention to the possibility of withdrawing his application. However, László Toroczkai insists on continuing the procedure.

September 19, 2025: The OPVT makes its decision. The decision is only a recommendation, as Meta has not accepted it as binding on itself. The OPVT agrees with László Toroczkai in all respects.

The Council gives Meta 15 days to restore László Toroczkai’s Facebook page and provide a detailed explanation of why it censored him. The Council also calls on Meta to pay the costs of the procedure.

October 2, 2025: OPVT sends Meta's brief response to OPVT's recommendation via email. The response is verbatim as follows:
