László Toroczkai
The Szeged Court of Appeal has issued a landmark, precedent-setting ruling against Facebook (Meta), László Toroczkai announced at a press conference.
The Court of Appeal has brought a case dating back to 2019 to a legally binding conclusion by ordering the tech giant to restore the Instagram account of the president of Mi Hazánk within 15 days. The ruling therefore establishes that Meta violated Toroczkai’s rights.
However, another part of the ruling means that the restoration of his Facebook page will have to wait, as the court found that Toroczkai had violated the platform’s “Community Standards” with a single post.
Although the leader of the Mi Hazánk parliamentary group has not yet received the written judgment, the 15-day deadline is already running. He will decide on further legal action once he receives the final ruling.
It was also stated that
the multibillion-dollar company has so far not been ordered to pay a single forint in damages,
which is why László Toroczkai reaffirmed that he will continue to seek legal redress.
“The fight is not over; this is only a partial victory,”
-he concluded.
